When God Builds Something Bigger Than Your Fear

A Leap of Obedience

My family and I made a leap of obedience.

We left the neon buzz of Las Vegas, my hometown, where I spent years as a wedding and portrait photographer capturing fleeting moments of joy and traded slot machines and spotlights for trees, wide open fields, and the slower, soul-soothing rhythms of small town Mississippi.

I won't lie. Fear whispered in my ear the whole way: What if this is just bayou swamp land and everyone hates my work? I am a city girl, moving to the South.

But God had other plans.

In the stillness of our new home, He began whispering visions of stories untold. Of art that doesn't just decorate walls, but mends hearts. Of a community that needed to see faith made visible.

I had never seen or heard of anything like what God was telling me to do.

I had doubt for a long time.

Why me? What could I possibly do? I was still becoming established. Still getting to know my community. Still figuring out who I even was in this new place.

But God was persistent. He kept showing me. Kept reassuring me. Until finally, I stopped arguing and took a leap of faith.

That obedience is what became Mosaic of Faith.

The Moment Everything Changed

One Sunday morning at church, a woman named Blaire from the worship team gave me my first glimpse of my calling.

She was lost in praise, arms raised, face radiant with the kind of joy that only comes from battles won through Christ. In that moment, something cracked open in me. I felt compelled to approach her after the service. Heart pounding, words tumbling out like a prayer, I shared the image God had planted: her story, her testimony, captured not just in words but in light and shadow.

To my astonishment, she didn't laugh it off. She leaned in, shared her own scars and triumphs, and said yes.

That vulnerability birthed Lights of Testimony, my personal submission to the showcase.

Where the Name Came From

But first I needed a name.

It started with Blaire.

After that Sunday morning at church, after I nervously approached her and shared what God had placed on my heart Blaire didn't just say yes to being photographed. She leaned in. She believed in the vision. And she introduced me to her friend Lauren.

The three of us decided we needed to go to dinner.

We were gathered around the table one evening, talking about unity, how to build something that welcomed people of many cultures, backgrounds, and denominations, when it came out of me.

Mosaic of Faith.

I said it and the table went quiet.

Lauren and Blaire were amazed. They recognized it immediately as something they had not come up with. Something that had been given.

Because it had been.

God had placed that name in my spirit before I ever sat down at that table. The dinner didn't birth it, it confirmed it. Those women were witnesses to a moment that had already been written.

A mosaic is made of fragmented, diverse pieces. Each piece has its own story. Each one formed completely differently than the next. Some broken by life. Some worn down by time. Some jagged at the edges.

But Jesus creates the art with our broken pieces.

Together in community we are resilient. We are beautiful. Even when, especially when, we are broken. Each piece has a role. Each piece is crucial to the overall design. Sharing space. Coming together. Creating something none of us could have made alone.

Mosaic of Faith. God gave it to me. And I finally understood why.

What is Mosaic of Faith?

Mosaic of Faith is a community gathering of artists, painters, poets, musicians, sculptors, photographers, and more. It is not just an event. It is a living tapestry of testimonies, where each piece shines a light on God's grace in our broken and beautiful lives.

The name says it all.

A mosaic is made of broken pieces. And so are we. But in God's hands, those broken pieces become something breathtaking.

I had a vision. I had very little else. No formal arts background. No guarantee that anyone would show up. No roadmap for what this was supposed to look like.

But I said yes anyway.

January 03, 2026 The Night That Surprised Me

I will be completely honest with you. My expectations were low.

I hoped for a quiet, meaningful evening. A small gathering. Maybe a two dozen people who would feel something and go home encouraged. I told myself that even if only ten people showed up it would be worth it.

What happened was something else entirely.

We hosted our very first Mosaic of Faith Showcase at Palmer Home for Children in Hernando, Mississippi, turning a space of healing into a gallery of worship. Musicians played. Artists shared. Testimonies were spoken out loud. The presence of God was so tangible you could feel it in the air.

Over 70 people filled that room.

I stood in the back and tried not to cry. Strangers became brothers and sisters. Isolation turned into invitation. What I thought might be a small quiet yes to God became something that felt like holy ground.

What God Did With Our Yes

Through the generosity of our community and the faithfulness of God, we raised $1,000 for Palmer Home for Children an organization dedicated to caring for the children He loves.

I did not see that coming either.

To every artist who shared their gifts, every attendee who showed up in support, and everyone who gave above and beyond, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Serving others is God's design for us, especially when it comes to caring for His children.

Palmer Home for Children gave us their space, their trust, and their hearts. What we gave back, a room full of worship, testimony, and generosity, felt like the least we could do.

Why This Matters

In a world screaming for relevance, God called me to obey in the unseen. To listen first, create second, and let His light do the rest.

Mosaic of Faith has woven me deeper into this community than I ever expected. It has taught me that my "not enough" no fancy studio, no art degree, no big platform, is exactly what qualifies me.

Because it was never my mosaic to begin with.

It is His.

In the thick of mothering, homemaking, and running Magnolia Grace Media, this project anchors me. It is a sacred yes to the Artist who first imagined me.

When God gave me this vision, I had no idea what He would do with it.

He exceeded everything I could have asked or imagined.

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us." — Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

The first Mosaic of Faith Showcase was only the beginning.
